Description

A refreshing Italian lemon liqueur made from organic lemons.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 big organic lemons (or 9 small)
  • 2 ½ cups white sugar
  • 4 ½ cups water
  • ⅓ cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Peel the lemons thinly, removing only the yellow zest. Avoid the white part.
  2. Place the lemon peels in a clean jar or container.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves. Bring to a light boil, then remove from heat and let cool completely.
  4. Pour the cooled syrup over the lemon peels.
  5. Cover and let infuse for 24 hours to several days, away from direct sunlight.
  6. Strain out the lemon peels using a fine sieve.
  7. Store in clean glass bottles in the refrigerator.
  8. Serve cold or diluted with water.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of sugar.
  • For a stronger flavor, let the peels infuse longer.
