Ingredients
Scale
- 10 oz refrigerated biscuit dough, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- ½ onion, diced
- 1 lb beef breakfast sausage
- ½ cup heavy cream or whole milk
- 5 eggs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1½ cups country gravy (prepared from mix)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer the biscuit pieces evenly in the bottom of the pan.
- In a skillet, melt butter and cook diced onion until translucent (about 3 minutes).
- Add the beef sausage and cook until fully browned. Drain excess grease.
- Spread the cooked beef mixture over the biscuit layer.
- Whisk together cream, eggs, garlic powder, and oregano. Pour over the beef and biscuits.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
- Prepare the gravy according to package directions and pour 1½ cups over the casserole.
- Bake for 30–40 minutes, until bubbly and fully cooked through.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Do not use the full gravy amount from the packet; too much will make the casserole soggy.
- Check for doneness at the lower end of baking time as oven temperatures vary.
- Extra prepared gravy can be served on the side.
