Classic Meatless Baked Ziti is a hearty pasta dish layered with rich tomato sauce and creamy cheeses.

- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 32 ounces tomato sauce
- 16 ounces ricotta cheese
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1 cup parmesan cheese, divided
- 2 eggs
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the ziti according to package directions until al dente.
- Drain pasta well in a colander.
- In a large bowl, mix together ricotta, 1 cup mozzarella, ½ cup parmesan, eggs, garlic, parsley, and Italian seasoning. Stir until well combined.
- Spread half of the tomato sauce evenly in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Add the drained pasta to the cheese mixture and toss until evenly coated.
- Transfer pasta mixture into the baking dish and spread evenly.
- Top with remaining sauce.
- Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup mozzarella and ½ cup parmesan.
- Bake for 35 minutes, until sauce is bubbling and cheese is melted and lightly golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute rotini or rigatoni if preferred.
- Freezer-friendly: Assemble the dish, cover with plastic wrap, then foil, and freeze up to 2 months. Thaw in refrigerator before baking. Remove plastic wrap before baking. If baking from frozen, place in oven before preheating and add 15 extra minutes.
