Description
Cucumber Dill Sauce, also known as Tzatziki Sauce, is a refreshing dip made with yogurt and cucumber.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium cucumber, peeled, seeded, and finely chopped
- ¾ cup Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for traditional flavor)
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced (for traditional flavor)
Instructions
- Peel the cucumber, remove the seeds, and chop into small pieces.
- Pat the cucumber dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- In a small bowl, combine the cucumber, Greek yogurt, milk, and fresh dill.
- If making traditional tzatziki, stir in lemon juice and minced garlic.
- Mix well until fully combined.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to blend.
Notes
- For thicker tzatziki, strain the yogurt before mixing.
- For smoother texture, grate the cucumber instead of chopping (be sure to squeeze out excess water).
- Serve with pita bread, grilled meats, gyros, or fresh vegetables.
- Stores in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
