Ingredients

  • 4 cups cabbage, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste (optional, for heat)
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat sesame oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage and stir well. Cook for 4–5 minutes, until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.
  5. Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, chili paste (if using), and sugar. Cook for 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
  7. Serve hot over rice or noodles, or enjoy as a low-carb dish on its own.

  • Adjust the chili paste to match your preferred spice level.
  • For extra depth, add a splash of Chinese cooking wine or Shaoxing wine.
