Easy Chinese Ground Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry Recipe
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 cups cabbage, shredded
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili paste (optional, for heat)
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat sesame oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Stir in the minced garlic and ginger. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the shredded cabbage and stir well. Cook for 4–5 minutes, until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.
- Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, chili paste (if using), and sugar. Cook for 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
- Serve hot over rice or noodles, or enjoy as a low-carb dish on its own.
Notes
- Adjust the chili paste to match your preferred spice level.
- For extra depth, add a splash of Chinese cooking wine or Shaoxing wine.
- Ground turkey or chicken can replace beef for a leaner version.
