Description
Learn how to make the viral Dubai chocolate strawberry cup at home with this simple recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 quart strawberries, sliced (adjust to taste)
- 1 to 1½ (10.5 oz) jars pistachio cream
- 1 (17.6 oz) package frozen kunafa (kataifi) dough, chopped
- 2–3 Tbsp salted butter
- Pinch of salt
- Milk chocolate bar or chocolate chips, melted (or use chips without melting)
- Chopped pistachios (optional)
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add chopped kunafa in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook slowly, stirring often, for 15–20 minutes per batch until evenly golden and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate and sprinkle lightly with salt.
- Once cooled slightly, combine toasted kunafa with pistachio cream. Start with 1 jar and add more to reach your preferred consistency (about 1½ jars for a richer mixture).
- Melt chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in short intervals, stirring frequently. You may also skip melting and use chocolate chips as-is.
- In serving cups or bowls, layer sliced strawberries, pistachio-kunafa mixture, melted chocolate (or chocolate chips), and chopped pistachios (optional). Repeat layers as desired.
Notes
- Toasting the kunafa slowly is key to achieving a crisp texture without burning.
- Best assembled just before serving to keep the strawberries fresh and the kunafa crisp.
- The pistachio-kunafa mixture can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for a few days.
