- 6 golden delicious apples, peeled and chopped
- 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of kosher salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced into small cubes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Butter an 8×8-inch baking dish or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a mixing bowl, combine chopped apples, granulated sugar, 3/4 tsp cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Transfer apple mixture to the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, oats, flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, salt, and diced butter.
- Use a pastry cutter or two forks/hands to cut butter into mixture until it resembles pea-sized crumbs.
- Spread topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 40–50 minutes, until topping is golden brown and apples are bubbly.
- Serve warm. Optional: top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
