Description
The Best Crumbl Molten Lava Cookies are rich, chocolatey cookies with a gooey fudge center.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 tbsp thick chocolate fudge sauce
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- On a parchment-lined plate, freeze 6 small dollops (about 1/2 tbsp each) of chocolate fudge sauce until solid.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Mix in the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until just incorporated.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Flatten each portion in your hands.
- Place a frozen fudge dollop in the center of each piece of dough, fold the dough around it to seal, and gently shape into a thick cookie (about 1–1.5 inches thick).
- Place on the baking sheet and bake for 10–11 minutes.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 20 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- If the fudge sauce is too runny, chill it before freezing.
- If it doesn’t freeze well, create a well in the cookie dough, fill with fudge, and carefully seal the edges.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or refrigerate for up to 7 days.
- Warm in the microwave for a few seconds before serving to restore the gooey center.
